Overview

As Finance Manager for Catalyst:Ed, you will be responsible for improving, maintaining, and executing strong financial processes and supporting the leadership and Board in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This position is envisioned as a part-time role (20 hours a week) and will report to Catalyst:Ed’s CEO.

What You’ll Accomplish in This Role:

In this role, you will manage the organization’s finance function by:

    • Improving, maintaining, and executing strong financial processes, including:
        • Developing of and monitoring operating and project budgets, in partnership with CEO and Partners
        • Catalyst:Ed invoicing
        • Consultant and vendor invoicing, payment and tracking
        • Receivables and payables management
        • Annual, quarterly, and monthly monitoring and reporting
        • Managing third-party bookkeeper and reviewing financial data monthly to ensure accuracy of reporting
        • Developing expense guidelines, and processing and monitoring expenses
        • Monitoring and managing cash flow
    • Contributing to grant management by administering grant processes (e.g. agreement execution/acknowledgement, reporting, disbursements)
        • Reviewing grant agreements, contracts, and proposals to determine reporting requirements and classification
        • Providing support for grant monitoring and reporting
    • Reviewing, negotiating, and monitoring vendor contracts
    • Leading annual audit process
    • Developing financial reports for Board meetings
    • Liaising, problem-solving, and managing relationships with key outsourced finance partners, including bookkeepers, auditors, and consultants

Who We’re Looking For:

    • 5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated impact in a finance role in a related field (nonprofit, consulting, philanthropy, etc.)
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Effective communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders
    • Track record of taking initiative and working entrepreneurially
    • Comfort with technology

Good to Know

    • Location: Catalyst:Ed works nationally, with an office in New Orleans. The Finance Manager can work from a location of their choosing.
    • Compensation: This is a part-time (~20 hours a week) position with benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
    • Start date: Ideally December 2020 (some flexibility for the right candidates)
